I'm riding 71 miles for the 70 million plus individuals at risk for kidney disease. Did you know that 1 in 3 American adults are at risk for kidney disease? Major risk factors include diabetes, high blood pressure, a family history of kidney failure and being age 60 or older. Kidney disease often has no symptoms, and it can go undetected until very advanced. But a simple test can tell you if you have kidney disease.
Kidneys are a vital part of your existence, when they fail, so do you. The National Kidney Foundation raises money to do a number of things to help you: educate clinicians on how to catch kidney disease earlier and more often, fund research to find ways to prevent and treat kidney disease, host free screenings in communities at need to help catch kidney disease before it's too late, advocate for kidney patients on Capitol Hill, provide gifts for pediatric patients at the University of Iowa who are going through dialysis on their birthday or celebrating a transplant, and the list goes on.
Every dollar counts, and I would be grateful for your support to help bring the urgency to kidney health and fight kidney disease!
