My name is James Botnen and live in Kindred, North Dakota (Southwest of Fargo)! I have been running for over a decade and started in triathlon a couple years ago. I turned 31 on December 22, 2017 and wanted to find a new challenge which is 3.1 miles per day for the entire year! I have run more miles than that over a year, but the challenge here is consistently doing it everyday which will still include my regular running and triathlon training.
My fundraising goal 365 days x 3.1 miles per days $1,132 (UPDATE: Goal is now $2,018) *Due to the awesome reaction to a recent news story of my challenge, there has been donations that came that exceeded my expectations, thus I am updating my overall goal. See below links for the article and story:
Why am I doing this? Simply put is family and what the National Kidney Foundation has meant for my entire family the past 10+ years. You can learn more about it in these stories about my Dad and his recipient Paul:
Did you know that 1 in 3 American adults are at risk for kidney disease? Major risk factors include diabetes, high blood pressure, a family history of kidney failure and being age 60 or older. Kidney disease often has no symptoms, and it can go undetected until very advanced. But a simple test can tell you if you have kidney disease.
NKF is leading the pace group in the fight against kidney disease and I am excited to join the pack! Will you join us by making a donation or challenging yourself too?
Every dollar counts, and I would be grateful for your support to help fight kidney disease!
