Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page for the National Kidney Foundation (NKF)
Gordon R Lang MD, 81, US Navy, 50 year Chicago resident, passed away peacefully February 20, 2018. Gordon was born on November 15, 1936 in Rochester, NY. During his senior year at Duke University, he had an appendectomy, which sparked his passion for medicine. He completed medical school at University of Buffalo and then completed a Nephrology residency at Rush University Medical Center, the discipline which he continued to pursue for the rest of his life. He and a business partner decided to open their own practice, which they grew to have multiple physicians and dialysis units. After selling the practice, his restless spirit drove him back to his roots and he restarted his personal practice until retirement. Gordon was actively involved with the National Kidney Foundation throughout his half-century as a nephrologist, and the cause was close to his heart. In his free time he was an excellent handball player and an accomplished sculler who won many national awards. He is remembered as a self-made man, with a kind heart and a deep compassion for others.
